Teri Tippey - Southern Gospel Songwriter

Teri Tippey

I’m grateful to my Heavenly Father for the gift of writing Christian Southern Gospel, Country Gospel, and Praise & Worship music, as well as books and devotions. My creative passion began in grade school, writing poems and lyrics, and has grown into a lifelong calling. Since the 1980s, I’ve focused on songs like I Love You, Lord and America, Where Are You Going, inspired by faith and life’s joys and challenges.

Despite early rejections and the tragic loss of my daughter, Alaina, in 1998, which inspired Walk On, I vowed to write only when moved by the Lord. Dry spells come, but when inspiration strikes, I create, hoping my work blesses others. Explore my songs, books, or devotions to connect with my heart’s expression.

Music History

1996 - Dad Passes Away
Dad had been sick, and shortly before he passed away, he told me he thought my songs would be recorded. He didn't get to see that day come. My dad passed away on September 13, 1996. Two months later, The King’s Heirs, a Southern Gospel trio from Indiana, recorded A Great Day and I Believe, I Believe. They later recorded Lord, I’ll Glorify. “I Believe, I Believe” received radio play in Southern states, earning my first BMI royalty check.

1997-1998 - Dry Spells
After losing my daughter, Alaina, in 1998, my creativity paused. Healing came slowly, and these years were marked by grief.

1999-2000 - Renewal
I began sending demos to radio stations again and was amazed to learn they received airplay. A DJ in Tipton, Florida, played four songs, and listeners called in with their favorites. Eddie Day charted I Believe, I Believe at #59 in the Netherlands in 2000.

2003 - An Honor
Inspired by Mike Adkins’ “Adoration,” I sent him a demo. He visited my home and recorded God’s Grace (#2 on his album “Me and You”).

Mike’s album, “Thank You For The Dove,” sold over 500,000 copies, earning Gold status. He has appeared on over 300 television programs and ministered globally. See more on Amazon.

2003-2007 - Momentum Builds
My demos, produced at The Family Room by Robb Tripp or Gus Gaches, gained traction. Robb encouraged me to sing, leading to the formation of TELL (with Lisa Lierheimer and Erin Murphy). We recorded “TELL Everybody” and performed locally for three years. My songs aired on KJJR Southern Gospel Radio and BBC Broadcasting.

2008 - Another Recording
Jericho Road Georgia recorded There Is Hope in January 2008, using it as their album title.

2009 - The Eternals
In July 2009, The Eternals recorded I Believe, I Believe at Chapel Valley Studio.

2010 - New Demo
My husband gifted me a new demo, including God Is Able, The King Has Arrived, Jesus Won The Battle, and Worthy Is The Lamb.

2011-2014 - Patience
A time of focus and waiting on the Lord.

2015 - Interest
Interest was shown in Worthy Is The Lamb.

2016-2021 - Caregiving
I cared for my daughter-in-law, Teresa, who passed from cancer, and my mother, who passed on April 8, 2021. A quiet time followed.

2021-2025 - A New Season
Our first grandchild was born on December 8, 2021. I’ve been babysitting her while her parents work, keeping this grandma very busy. Songwriting has slowed, and I’ve shifted to writing devotions and books, including Zeb and Zoya. However, I continue to send songs to artists and plan to keep doing so.

Thanks to The King’s Heirs, Mike Adkins, Jericho Road, and The Eternals for recording my music. Special thanks to Bill Cox, Gus Gaches, and Robb Tripp for vocals, production, and engineering—staying true to each song’s essence.

I look forward to hearing from you.
